England v India Results

Firm opening stand of 150 in just 22 overs and in the end heroic performance by Uthappa settled remarkable victory over England in the 6th ODI of 2007 tour. Winning the toss and batting firt England stumbled to 20/2, 83/4 and 137/5 at 30th over of an innings. But the dream first impression by LJ Wright 50 in 39 balls changed the momentum of the match. He and OA Shah played some handsome strokes, meanwhile Shah completed his maiden hundred in ODI. In the end 5 sixes in last 5 balls of the innings by Mascarenhas of Yuvraj managed them to pass tripple hundred and set target of 317 for India. Wicket was playing nicely and there was absolutely no support for the bowlers. In reply Ganguly and Tendulkar started innings quite comfortably, runs were coming easily and they provide solid platform by adding 150. Now only 167 in about 28 overs and 9 wickets are in hand. Then there was drama. After Ganguly, Tendulkar fall in short duration and this result in break in a scoring rate. Situation were turning more tight as Yuvraj and Dravid depart in short duration. It went more worse for India when Gambhir fall trying to do some extra as the asking rate was increasing. The last known batting pair on the crease and still 83 more run required from 58 balls. Dhoni and Uthappa kept their cool and playing sensibly. The bowling was tight still runs were coming though not easily. Still with 23 needed from the last two overs after fall of Dhoni and the 13 from the second last over of Anderson and 10 in the last over. Uthappa and Khan run 2 of the first one from Broad and the next was yorker at right spot that cost run out Zaheer. Trying to york again 3rd one was full on middle by the time ball passes to Uthappa, he was outside off stump and that help him to put it over short fine lag for four. Similar ball but this time Uthappa down the track hit it past mid-off for four to seal remarkable victory. Uthappa was playing for the first time in this series and it turn out to be a memorable for him.

The last match hero Broad was the most expensive today gave 84 runs in 10 overs. England lost Cook immediately after start of their chase.
